Module #1: Building a Character

This class will provide you with a handy-dandy tool-kit for building individual authentic characters, how to blend autobiographical material with fictional elements to create varying degrees of character narrators, and you’ll also receive the “Character Template” approved by the state department and the war department and other written material on using the voice to build fictional characters.

The Sequel class was magic. I have been working with Jack since 2008 and since then I have learned so much and my writing has improved and I’ve gotten published and I’ve published a book of poetry, I’ve been a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and Ariana Huffington’s Thrive Global. And, given all of that, the Sequel class broke open something new inside of me. It freed me up in an even deeper way and allowed me to create characters. Well-rounded, interesting, characters have come alive on the page and in my life. They are with me as I go about my day and every time I pull out my journal to write. I am so excited to be writing my first fiction novel and I know it is the brilliance of this class that has allowed me to do it. And it isn’t just me, it’s the other students, they come to this class and something opens up for them, I hear it in what they read. It’s magic. This class is magic, and I will most likely take it again!
