METHOD WRITING:
A word from Kevin Jacobsen
For students ready to move beyond the basics, the Advanced Level works from Jack Grapes’ book The Art of Tonal Dynamics. We build on the Prequel and Level‑One tools and tackle the challenge every writer faces: keeping the reader glued to the page.
The deep voice hooks, but tonal dynamics holds. In this class you’ll learn how to weave music, internal rhyme, and deliberate tonal shifts— the secret sauce readers subconsciously crave. Like a composer shaping a symphony, you’ll orchestrate pitch and mood so your prose sings.
We’ll explore these techniques while still writing journal‑style entries and leaning on the creative process. Voice guides character; tonal shifts create momentum; process births product.
