The “Teen Prequel Class,” is a fun 5-week winter writing class experience for your kids. Where we will be using the world-famous “Jack Grapes Method Writing Techniques” to get your kids in touch with their creative process and inner voice. This fun winter class will focus on:

Voice – writing in an authentic voice and sounding like yourself, or as we say in the adult class: “writing like you talk” – it’s what hooks the reader. We will be drilling down on Process over Product. Where we show your kids how to face the blank page with no prompts or pre-planned story in mind – using the DON’T THINK, SEE technique to a fun journal entry style writing. We will be practicing writing good dialogue, creating scenes, talk about what’s the subtext, and learn how to create character through great dialogue? Then if that’s not enough to hold your kids to their desks, we’re gonna top it off with one of Method Writings’ most secret and powerful creative weapons –The Image Moment. This is where the fun begins and we share with your kids top secret stuff like —The Seven Elements. Bookends, action and dialogue. But wait! We’re also going to be creating psychological time—creating that connection between reader and writer. All this mixed together will teach your kids how to create cinematic scenes in their prose writing that will forever last in their reader’s mind. Then for our last session we’re going to introduce—from prose to poem. This is where your kids actually will write poems—using journal entry style writing. It’s going to be a blast!

I am looking forward to being working with your kids and I hope they can join us for the winter “Teen Prequel,” class.
